Be There ("we", "us", "our") operates the Be There mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
Display name and username
Email address (if signing in via email or Google OAuth)

Profile photo (if provided)
Authentication tokens and identifiers from Firebase
Usage Information
As you use the Service, we automatically collect:
Venue check-in and check-out times
Interactions with other users (friend requests, group memberships)
Chat messages and their metadata
Music identification requests and results
Coin balances and transaction history

Stories (photos, videos, text) shared to venues

2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
Show who is currently at venues in real time
Enable social features such as chat, friend connections, and groups
Deliver safety features including walk-me-home tracking and emergency alerts
Identify songs playing at venues
Manage the in-app coin economy
Send notifications about relevant activity
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
Comply with legal obligations
3. Firebase Authentication
We use Google Firebase Authentication to manage user sign-in. Firebase may collect:
IP addresses
Device identifiers
Authentication tokens
Firebase processes this data according to Google's Firebase Privacy Policy. We support Google OAuth, email/password, and phone SMS sign-in methods.
4. Location Data
Be There uses location data in the following ways:
Venue check-ins: When you check in to a venue, your presence is associated with that venue's location. We do not continuously track your GPS coordinates.
Nearby venues: We may use your device's location to show venues near you. This data is processed on-device or in-session and is not stored long-term.
Walk-me-home: When you activate safety tracking, your real-time location is shared with your designated safety contacts for the duration of the session only.
You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.
5. Stories and Media
Stories (photos, videos, and text posts) you share are visible to other users at the same venue. Stories are ephemeral by design and are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Media files are stored on our servers and removed upon expiration.
6. Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services:
Firebase (Google): Authentication, push notifications, and analytics. Privacy Policy
Google Maps Platform: Venue mapping and geolocation. Privacy Policy
AudD: Music recognition service for identifying songs at venues. Privacy Policy
Anthropic (Claude): AI-powered features and recommendations. Privacy Policy
Each third-party service processes data according to its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for the following periods:
Check-in history: 90 days from the date of check-in
Safety data (walk-me-home routes, alerts): 30 days
Stories: 24 hours (automatically deleted)
Chat messages: Retained while your account is active
Account information: Retained until you delete your account
Anonymized analytics: May be retained indefinitely
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
Right to restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data

9. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the app settings. When you delete your account:
Your profile, check-in history, and social connections are permanently removed
Your chat messages are disassociated from your identity
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:
Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
Encryption of sensitive data at rest
JWT-based authentication with secure token handling
Regular security audits and monitoring
Access controls limiting employee access to personal data
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
11. Children's Privacy
Be There is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we discover that a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 16 is using Be There, please contact us at privacy@bethereclub.com.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
